Campina Grande is a municipality located in the Brazilian state of Paraiba. It was founded on 1 December 1697, having been elevated to city status on October 11, 1864. According to 2011 estimates, its population is approximately 400 000 inhabitants, being the second most populous city in ParaÃba, in addition to being the 56th largest municipality in the 12th largest inland city in Brazil.
